JOSEPH H. RILEY - Chickasaw

Joseph was aborn in 1863 in the Choctaw Nation; is the son of Col. James Riley, a leading man in his day, but who died when Joseph was but a child, so that he was raised by his father-in-law, Milton Brown, of Wah-pa-nucka.

The young man had a liberal education, having gone through a thorough literary training at Springfield, Mo., Booneville, Mo., and Albany, N.Y. In 1866 he married Susan Cut-chub-by, who died two years afterward. Mr. Riley has since united himself to Miss Sallie Moore, a North Carolina lady, by whom he has one child, aged thirteen monthes. His property consists of two ranches containing one thousand head of cattle, and nearly on hundred horses, besides a farm which is now in course of cultivation.
